If you run a club, group, school or charity and think the internet is passing you by, things could be changing very soon.

Argus is giving non profit-making organisations across Sussex the chance to go online for free.

A potential audience of more than 20,000 internet users a month can be reached on the new CommuniGate page of our This is Brighton and Hove, Worthing and Eastbourne sites.

CommuniGate features message boards to publicise events, guestbooks, text and photo displays.

It offers a "hit" counter, events diary, e-mail addresses and even an electronic voting facility so groups and members can stay in touch with each other.

All you have to do is decide what you want on the screen and let us handle the technical side.

Argus head of digital publishing Helen Grant said: "It's opening up the internet to the whole of Sussex. People across the county can speak to each other, us and the whole world if they want to. It suits everyone from religious groups to football teams, from schools to volunteer groups."

Any non profit-making organisation can build its own site simply by logging on.

Ms Grant said: "This really is revolutionising the way the Argus and the people of Sussex communicate with each other."

"The CommuniGate categories set up so far are charities and voluntary groups, clubs and societies, religious groups, residents' groups, schools and education and sports clubs. More are being added all the time.

"Advertising banners at the top and bottom of the screen mean we can keep the cost to you at nothing."
