Two people have been released on bail after a teenager was slashed with a knife.

The 16-year-old, from Hove, suffered serious cuts to her arm and face in the incident.

Two people, one male and one female, were arrested after the incident. Police discovered a Stanley knife covered with blood at an address in Portslade. They have been released on bail while officers wait for the result of a forensic test on the knife.

Detective Constable Graham Mepham, of Hove CID, said the victim was recovering from the incident at home.

He said: "We are appealing for witnesses. It was early evening so there were people travelling past. We need to clarify certain details."
