The A24 Ashington bypass will be closed overnight on Saturday for maintenance work.
A footbridge over the road is being dismantled so it can be taken away for repainting.
The road will be closed to traffic between the B2133 junction at the north end of Ashington and Hole Street to the south.
Diversions will be in place between 11pm on Saturday and 7.30am on Sunday.
The bridge will be reinstalled in six weeks' time.
