As an ME sufferer I deplore the national ME Association's attempts to close the Sussex ME Society and seize its funds (Argus, July 25).

It is no exaggeration that to many people with ME our local group is a lifeline. It is extremely frightening and isolating to be diagnosed with an illness for which there is no known cure.

The Sussex ME Society gives sufferers the opportunity to make contact with others in the same situation, to provide mutual support and share experiences. I entreat the national ME Association to reconsider its position.
