Chris Adams says his side are determined to make the most of some national exposure at the Oval today.

Their NatWest Trophy fourth round tie against Surrey is being televised live by Channel Four and the Sussex skipper believes it's an ideal opportunity for players with international aspirations to put themselves in the shop window.

He said: "All NatWest games are special, but there is a bit more of an edge to this one because it's against our old rivals and because it's live on TV.

"It's a great opportunity for our lads to shine and to make an impression with the selectors.

"It's a big stage and I think we have the guys who can perform on it."

Adams was overlooked for the one-day triangular series which starts tomorrow, but believes he is back to his best in limited overs cricket.

Sunday's century against Northants in the National League followed three successive half-centuries in one-day matches.

"I needed that hundred because those are the scores which get you noticed," he added.

"It's a gentle reminder to the selectors and hopefully when the next squad is picked I will be in it providing I keep scoring the runs."

Surrey start as clear favourites, but Sussex have won on their last two visits to the Oval in one-day matches and Adams believes they are capable of a hat-trick of victories.

"It's a very tough game because they have got any number of matchwinners," he added. "But we are improving as a one-day side all the time and the victory we got on Sunday has really lifted the spirits."

The county practised at the Oval yesterday and seem certain to name an unchanged team although Jason Lewry has been added to the squad on duty on Sunday.
