Chris Adams is confident his side can turn the tables on old rivals Surrey tomorrow.

But the Sussex skipper admits that success in this season's Nat West Trophy is not their main priority.

"We want to do well in every competition we enter," he said.

"But our priorities are getting promotion to Division One of the Championship and staying in the first division in the National League."

Sussex head for the Oval for a televised fourth round tie (10.45) hoping to avenge their early season defeat by Adam Hollioake's men in the Benson and Hedges Cup.

"They rolled us over at Hove so I'm pleased in a way that it's up there and gives us a chance to make amends.

"We are definitely the underdogs which helps a little bit, but I know my side can give Surrey a run for their money.

"We're a good one-day outfit which is improving all the time. Our fielding has been excellent, our bowling consistent and our batters are getting into some good form."

The county won their second National League game out of three at Northampton on Sunday when Adams scored his second one-day century of the season and Michael Bevan and Tony Cottey chipped in with valuable runs.

"That result has really lifted everyone's spirits after what happened against Kent. We have made an effort to be more positive in our batting in the last two or three games and we struck the ball brilliantly on Sunday. We are going to go into tomorrow's game with a lot of confidence."

Sussex are likely to name the same side which beat Northamptonshire with Will House again preferred to Jamie Carpenter and Michael Yardy.

House made 26 off ten balls against Northants and has taken 11 one-day wickets this season.

"We have realised that we need to play four specialist bowlers and I'm happy with the make-up of our one-day side now," added Adams.

"It enables Umer Rashid to be a bit more attacking when he bowls and we always have Will, Bev and myself to fill in the other overs if necessary."

Surrey welcome back Alec Stewart from England duty and their side also includes former Sussex leg-spinner Ian Salisbury.

Sussex (probable): Montgomerie, Adams, Cottey, Bevan, House, Rashid, Martin-Jenkins, Patterson, Taylor, Kirtley, Robinson, Lewry
