Brian Phillips from the car- hating Transport 2000 misses the point (Opinion, June 27). Since I started driving in October 1990, petrol has doubled in price!
That's why motorists complain. Most salaries, however, have not doubled over the last ten years.
The public has finally woken up to the Government's stealth tax on fuel and whether car drivers or not, we all suffer.
Just ask what the crippling effect of the taxes has had on bus fares.
As for relying on public transport, in relation to the bus links between Bishopstone and Brighton, has Mr Phillips ever tried to travel between these two destinations after the pubs close at 11.30pm, for example?
