I am old. My Brighton happened yesterday. I don't belong on the Palace Pier and it is fitting that I should leave it to the beautiful young. However, I love the West Pier. It was part of my childhood. I used to swim and sail round it, marvel at its follies and fantasies.
Recently I joined one of the West Pier tours and was pleased to understand the plan was to restore it to its former grandeur. As there is much interest in times past, surely this cannot fail to delight large numbers.
