Thousands of ravers are set to descend on a seaside village for the biggest dance event ever held in the South.

Boy George and Judge Jules are among the line-up of DJs for the South Coast Weekender to be held at Camber Sands, near Rye, during the first weekend in April.

The event is the first major festival of the year and is to be held at Pontins holiday camp.Around 3,500 people are expected to attend from across the country, all eager to see one of the biggest line-ups of DJs ever assembled in the UK.

Culture Club frontman Boy George is the latest star to confirm he will perform, as will world famous DJ Judge Jules and chart topping dance act ATB.

The three-day festival features non-stop music in two halls at the holiday camp. For £85, ravers can spend the whole weekend on the dance floor or relax in their own luxury chalet, usually used by holiday makers.

The dance extravaganza is being put on by Privilege Promotions, Radio 1 and music magazine Ministry. Simon Grant, of Kent-based Privilege Promotions, said hundreds of tickets had already been sold, many to overseas dance fans via the

Internet. He said: "It's going to be a very exciting three days."

The South Coast Weekender takes place from Friday, March 31, to Sunday, April 2. Tickets are available on 07050 124000.
