ALBION manager Micky Adams has gone back to his old club Fulham to strengthen his depleted squad.

Winger Paul Brooker is joining the Seagulls on a month's loan. The 23-year-old Londoner goes straight into the team for tomorrow's all-ticket test at fifth-placed Northampton.

Adams revealed: "Paul came through the ranks and he was in my promotion squad at Fulham.

"He can play on the right, left or down the middle and he is quite an exciting player with good pace."

Hammersmith-born Brooker was a fans' favourite in Fulham's 1996-97 promotion campaign after joining them as a trainee in July 1995.

He did not figure in Kevin Keegan's plans at Craven Cottage and was restricted to two substitute appearances last season, when he had a trial with Portsmouth.

Brooker had scored six goals in 69 games, the majority as a sub, before the start of the current campaign.

His main function will be to supply Albion's strikers, including fellow loan capture Bobby Zamora, as they seek a first win for nine matches.

Zamora, borrowed from Bristol Rovers, makes his away debut after equalising in last Saturday's 1-1 draw against Plymouth.

Danny Cullip, a former Fulham team-mate of Brooker, is regarded as "extremely doubtful" by Adams. The central defender pulled out of training yesterday with a thigh injury.

Skipper Paul Rogers, Rod Thomas and Darren Carr are all suspended, Jamie Campbell is injured and ex-Northampton stopper Keith McPherson is short of match practise following a calf infection.

Goalkeeper Mark Walton and Warren Aspinall, injury worries earlier in the week, should both be fit, while Charlie Oatway will take over the captaincy if joint contender Cullip is ruled out.

Said Adams: "Our performance against Plymouth was everything you would hope for, apart from a winning goal. But we would love to scrape a 1-0 win without playing particularly well."
