Hastings Town advanced into the semi-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup with a convincing win at The Oval.

The fourth-round tie was played in near monsoon conditions with the players forced to cope with continual rain for most of the match. Stewart Myall volleyed Town in front on 15 minutes after Shaun Loft's header had cannoned off the post.

Terry White doubled the lead soon after with a stunning 40- yard strike which dipped under the crossbar. United were then reduced to ten men before half time when Jimmy Chater was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

The County League side refused to buckle and on the hour reduced the arrears through a bullet header from Gary Tinkler.

The worsening conditions meant the contest ended in near farce but Town clinched victory when Jimmy Elford struck late on.

Worthing crushed Wick 5-0 in the third round of the Sussex Floodlight Cup.

Having led by just one goal at the break, scored by Montgomery, Simon Funnell hit two goals midway through the second half to seal victory. Montgomery added a fourth on 73 minutes and Lee Weston made it 5-0 in the closing stages.

A goal by James Bird ten minutes from time earned Horsham YMCA a 1-0 win at Redhill in division one of the Unijet Sussex League. Having had good runs in the FA Cup and Vase, YM have games in hand and could reach the top three if they win them. This victory moved them up to sixth.
