Gore Court now hold a ten-point lead although Horsham have a game in hand. However, the scoreline did not reflect a tightly-contested game. Crawley were left cursing umpiring decisions after going down 3-1 at home to lowly Ashford. The visitors went 2-0 ahead inside ten minutes and Crawley's problems grew as two yellow cards saw them down to nine men at one stage.

In the second half, Crawley pulled one back when Terry Higgs scored following a short corner. Crawley also had two efforts controversially ruled out, while a breakaway third wrapped up victory for Ashford.

Mid Sussex moved up to fourth after a 2-1 win at Middleton & Bognor. Andy Green got the winner from a free hit after James Goodwin's first-half opener had be

en cancelled out.

Worthing remain second from bottom after losing 6-1 at Marden Russets, with Simon Rylett getting the consolation.
