Albion manager Micky Adams has pledged that David Cameron will never play for the first team again.

He says the big Scot has been damaging dressing room morale.

Cameron was labelled "useless" by Adams'assistant Alan Cork after he was substituted 20 minutes into the Seagulls' defeat at Hull nine days ago. That led to a storm of protests from fans and boos for Cork as he walked to the dugout before Saturday's home game against Plymouth.

Adams revealed to the Argus last Friday that he had instructed Cork to make the remarks. And, after watching loan teenager Bobby Zamora equalise on his debut to earn Albion a 1-1 draw against Plymouth, Adams defended his actions with another outburst against Cameron.

"What do you do in the dressing room if there is a destructive influence in there?" he said. "Somebody who is creating a bad atmosphere and a bad taste in people's mouths. Who is openly suggestive to young professionals that he doesn't give a damn whether he is playing in the first team or reserves, because of the money that he is earning?

"If you want people like that to play for your football club and are prepared to accept that then don't come to the games. But I have a dressing room and a team spirit to look after and I will look after it my way. The man in question, and you all know who I am talking about, will never ever play in the first team again. I have a dressing room to control and to run and I'm not prepared to let one man disrupt and destroy team spirit and harmony."

Cameron was not in the squad on Saturday. He is top scorer for the reserves with six goals, but the former soldier has fired blanks in eight starts and 14 substitute appearances for the first team.

Added Adams: "It hasn't gone well for us of late, but I am not paying people at this football club to be a success in the reserves. That's no good to me. They have got to do the business in the first team. They can hide away in the reserves if they want, but I don't want a good reserve side, I want a good first team."

Zamora, signed on a month's loan from Bristol Rovers, headed in a Darren Freeman cross early in the second half to cancel out the fastest goal of the day from Martin Gritton after 59 seconds.

"It was a terrific performance by Bobby," said Adams. "I was really pleased with him. He showed everything I was told about him. Zamora, 19, said: "You cannot ask for more than a goal on your first start. We played very well and should have won easily."

Albion's second home draw in a row has stretched their winless run to eight games and dropped them a place to 18th. Captain Paul Rogers, calf injury victim Darren Carr and Rod Thomas are all suspended for Saturday's visit to fifth-placed Northampton.

Ross Johnson's future will be resolved by then. The Brighton-born defender's month on loan to Colchester expired on Saturday.
