Albion eased through to the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup at Leylands Park last night.

A strong side including nine players with first-team experience this season safely negotiated a potentially tricky Argus-sponsored tie against the Sussex County League champions who are unbeaten in the league this season.

The Seagulls went ahead in the 32nd minute.

Kerry Mayo picked out Ryan Palmer with a diagonal centre and his header across the face of goal was nodded into his own net by the diving Daren Newman.

Paul Armstrong killed Burgess Hill off with a classy finish ten minutes into the second half.

Set up by Gary Hart, the young Irish midfielder found the bottom corner with a precise low shot.

Keeper Richard Waters kept the home side in touch in the first half.

He came sharply off his line to thwart Hart and pushed an effort by Mayo for a corner.

Mark Ormerod had little to do by comparison, although he had to tip over a 25-yard drive by Paul Thomsett shortly after the break.

Clinton Moore came closest for Burgess Hill before Albion took the lead, his shot from a narrow angle thudding against the upright.
