TWO local businessmen have taken control at troubled Ryman League club Lewes.
Martin Elliott and Andy Steadman were appointed as directors this week and immediately promised a brighter future for the Rooks.
Elliott, who runs Philcox Brothers, and Andy Steadman, of Steadman and Sons, tried to take over the club in the summer, but lost out to a consortium led by Gordon Lucking, who recently resigned as chairman.
Under the changes this week, the old consortium's only remaining directors, Jimmy Quinn and Billy Nixon, resigned their positions although both agreed to stay on to run the team for the immediate future.
