A couple denied harbouring an escaped
prisoner when they appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court.
Adrian Bryant, 39, and Paula Briffa, 34, both of Bristol Place, Brighton, are accused of harbouring Wesley Douglas between August, 1998, and October this year.
Bryant also denied illegally possessing a firearm and impeding the arrest of Douglas.
Douglas, 28, of no fixed address, also appeared in court. He is charged with escaping from Ford Open Prison in April last year, robbery, false imprisonment, affray, using a firearm with intent to prevent arrest, causing £492 damage to a cell at Brighton Police Station, plus a burglary at a house in Shirley Drive, Hove, nearly three years ago.
The case was adjourned until December 6. Briffa was remanded on bail and the other two were remanded in custody.
