A Territorial Army colonel and honorary aide-de-camp to the Queen has been found dead at Beachy Head.
A car believed to belong to Euan Morrow was found with its lights on in a nearby car park by a Downs ranger yesterday. A car park pass to a Buckingham Palace garden party earlier this year was found in the Vauxhall Astra.
Col Morrow, in his fifties, lived with his wife at Cross-in-Hand, near Heathfield.
Buckingham Palace today expressed condolences but said it was unlikely Col Morrow was known to the Queen.
A spokesman said: "An aide-de-camp is an honorary role and there are 16 in the Territorial Army.
"They might accompany the Queen at parades or other military events."
In April this year, Col Morrow was appointed general manager of the British Postal Consultancy Service after two years as head of Defence Postal Services.
He worked for the Post Office for 30 years and held senior management positions including personnel director for Royal Mail South East, based in Brighton.
