Crosby is sidelined from today's Withdean clash with Cheltenham after missing the second half of last Saturday's defeat by Chester and spending two nights in hospital.

Tests yesterday indicated he had been suffering from a virus in his left ear.

If the findings are confirmed by a scan on Tuesday then Crosby could return to training the following day and be in contention for next Saturday's trip to Peterborough.

"It has been very worrying," said Crosby. "Everything was just spinning everywhere. My legs went and I am just glad the ref blew the whistle for half time, otherwise I probably would have collapsed on the pitch.

"I went into the dressing room and didn't move until about six o'clock. I was just laying down. As soon as I sat up it started again.

"The ambulance came and I was sick about four or five times going to hospital. I was in there until Monday dinner time.

"I feel allright now in myself, although my left ear is still totally blocked. I've never had anything like this before, which is why it was so worrying. I am used to getting whacks on the nose, but nothing like this."

Warren Aspinall makes his debut in the middle of midfield today on a month's loan from Colchester, who he has captained in every game this season. Manager Micky Adams said: "He's the type of player we need at the moment."
