STUDENTS who occupied the finance department of Sussex University to protest against tuition fees are preparing to spend their eighth night in the building.

More than 150 took over Sussex House in support of 89 colleagues who face expulsion over non-payment of their fees.

Last Thursday the group were served with a repossession notice and later lost an appeal at Lewes County Court for a stay of judgement.

Since then, they have barricaded themselves in, only a few entering and leaving through a small window to write essays and return library books.

Students not taking part have been providing food and water.
