CHICHESTER and Mid Sussex are set for another final meeting in hockey's Sussex Cup.

Holders Chi kept their cup hopes very much alive with a 5-1 win at Regional League outfit Brighton on Sunday.

And Mids, runners-up in last season's showpiece match at Saint Hill, came through their semi in dramatic style at home to Middleton and Bognor.

Mike Jourdain's side, beaten 9-2 by M&B in the league a day earlier, were 3-2 down midway through the cup contest.

But this time they didn't crumble and eased through 6-3, helped by four goals from Terry Higgs.

Andy Green and Ian Brown were also on target, with Middleton skipper Mark Pacey admitting his side's slump was down to mental approach.

He said: "We were geed up on Saturday and we annihilated them, but it was the other way round on Sunday and they made us pay."

Pacey (two) and Simon Morgan scored for Middleton.

Brian Lock's treble was the key for Chi against a battling Brighton side who were missing four men.

The killer blow came with the last shot of the first half when Lock's short corner strike put his side 2-0 up.

Andy Savory and Adam Beer also found a way past outstanding Brighton goalkeeper Luke Williams.

Now Chi will hope to repeat last season's cup final display, when they enjoyed an impressive 5-1 win.

CRAWLEY reached the last eight of the EHA Vase by beating Bracknell 4-2. Goals came from Steve Farley, Stuart Donaldson, Gary Hardwick and Carl Wright.

Lewes go to Cannock in the HA Cup on Sunday while Worthing host West Bridgford in the last eight of the HA Trophy (1pm).
