HUNDREDS of youngsters could miss seeing the Queen and Prince Philip when they make a historic visit to their school.

Parents and pupils at Durrington High School say they have been told that not all of the 1,350 students will be able to witness the royal visit.

It is thought that only a third of the pupils, roughly 400, will see the royal couple on March 26.

Parents say the school is selecting pupils from the top academic sets.

A West Sussex County Council spokeswoman confirmed: "It is unlikely that all the pupils will be able to see the Queen from a security point of view."

One 15-year-old pupil said: "We have heard a lot of rumours. Everyone should be given the chance to see the Queen."

Hazel Lee, school secretary, said: "The school is not in a position to comment."
