ALBION have recommended Ross Johnson for an international call-up with Wales.

The young central defender qualifies to play for the principality through his late Grandad Les, who came from Newport.

Manager Jeff Wood, revealed "Ross is in the frame. Wales are looking for players all the time and wanted to know if we have anyone who falls into that category.

"They were alerted to him two or three weeks ago and we have just got to wait and see now whether he gets a shout."

Johnson, 23, did his cause a power of good with both goals in Albion's 2-2 draw at Swansea last Friday.

It was the first time the Brighton-born stopper had scored in 115 League appearances and he dedicated the goals to his Grandad, who kept a close watch on his career.

Johnson could follow in the footsteps of former Albion player John Robinson.

The Bulawayo-born Charlton winger is now a regular for Wales. He qualified to play for them because he holds a British passport.

Wood, meanwhile, must make a decision on Bradford City's Welsh striker Lawrence Davies.

The former Leeds United 21-year-old completed a two match trial in the reserves yesterday as they held Arsenal to a goalless draw at Boreham Wood FC.

Wood said "It's something I have got to think about. He played very well again."

Albion's reserves have a rearranged game in the Combination against Millwall at the New Den tomorrow (2.0).
