VETERAN funnyman Spike Milligan is set to scrum down for the first time in nearly 50 years in a bid to raise cash for his local rugby club.
Spike, 80, is a dedicated supporter of Rye Rugby Club and turns out to cheer them on at most home games.
Hundreds of people are expected to watch the former Goon take to the field at the club's ground on Sunday.
Spike's last stand will help the club raise money for a new pavilion and bar in time for its tenth anniversary in 2001.
