FOOTBALL crazy Craig Lander had heard of red and yellow cards but not blue ones - until American Express tried to book him, TWICE! The Brighton schoolboy could not believe his eyes when the first American Express Blue Card application form dropped through his letterbox. Craig, ten, wanted to send off for the free Head sports bag offered to new cardholders and was planning to take his football team out for a slap-up meal. But his angry mum Sandra, 32, from Maresfield Road, Whitehawk, Brighton, kicked the card into touch and phoned AMEX to complain. She was told Craig's name had been put on the mailing list by mistake and would be taken off immediately. But, incredibly, yesterday Craig received a second AMEX Blue Card form. Furious Sandra said: "I can't believe they can send a ten-year-old boy one credit card application, let alone two. "I thought I had done the right thing by complaining. But when they sent him a second application, perhaps I shouldn't have bothered." "I knew Craig would be tempted to send it off because he wanted the free sports bag they were offering with it. "It was a good job I found it, because Craig was already planning how to spend the money. "Being the goalkeeper for local team AFC Ashmore, he instantly thought of his footie friends. "He imagined he and his mates would be eating every burger and milkshake in town." American Express spokesman Caroline Clemson blamed a database error and said: "We hope to make it up by giving him the free bag he wanted."
