ALBION boss Brian Horton is on the lookout for another loan signing.

He is scouring the country in search of the one temporary transfer the Seagulls still have room for this term. Michael Mahoney-Johnson's return to Queens Park Rangers has created the vacancy, but Horton faces difficulty in filling the gap. As the season bubbles to a climax most clubs are either involved in promotion or relegation issues and therefore reluctant to loan out players who could be needed as cover. Horton still hopes to make a couple more permanent signings before next Thursday's transfer deadline to add to the free transfer captures of Graeme Atkinson from Preston and Damian Hilton from Norwich. ALBION Reserves' dismal run continued with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wimbledon at Plough Lane yesterday. Agoal in each half condemned them to this latest reverse, and they have now won only once this season in 23 matches. Andy Clarke gave Wimbledon the lead with a 33rd-minute header from a corner, and Richard O'Connor wrapped up the Combination points from the penalty spot on 70 minutes after Robbie Peters had handled. The home side carved out most of the chances, Damian Francis crashing a shot against the woodwork, and Nicky Rust turning a goalbound effort by Leigh Hinds on to a post. Rust also did well to block shots from Francis and Carl Cort with his legs and near the end pulled off the best save of the match to keep out a fierce volley by Hinds. It was not all one-way traffic, however, and it might have been a different story if Richie Barker had not headed tamely wide from Andy Ansah's pin-point cross just after the interval. Ansah threatened to undo Wimbledon on several occasions, while former Brentford midfielder Simon Wormull, playing his first game, had Albion's best two efforts. He forced Pat Jennings, son of the former Spurs and Arsenal goalkeeper, to a full-length save from a 20-yard free-kick and then fired a drive just over the angle from all over 30 yards. Another trialist, Jeff Woolsey, from QPR, impressed in the centre of defence, where he and skipper Ben Andrews generally did well against Clarke and Cort, Wimbledon's two most experienced players. Albion Reserves: Rust, Saul, Hassall, Catley, Woolsey, Andrews, Ansah, Wormull, Reinelt, Barker, Peters. Subs: Streeter (for Reinelt, 60mins), Winter, McArthur.
