This was the headline of The Argus on July 4: "Thousands pour into event-packed city to make the cash registers jingle", with the Picnic In The Park, Race for Life and the screening of Live8 all taking place in Brighton.
On pages four and five was another headline, this one said: "Let Us End The Poverty".
We still just don't get it, do we?
Mahatma Gandhi's eight-word reply, on being asked for his view on Western civilisation, rang in my numb ears: "I think it would be a good idea".
