A group of colleagues are set to climb Africa's highest peak to raise money for a children's home in Tanzania.

The team from marketing company Spannerworks in Brighton will start their trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro next Friday after a visit to the Amani Children's Home to meet the children who inspired the climb.

The climb is expected to raise £10,000 for the home. Spannerworks has supported the home for the past year, each month donating some of its profits to help the home maintain its projects and develop the plan of moving to a new, purpose-built home by 2006.

Kilimanjaro, the "rooftop of Africa" is the world's highest free-standing mountain at 5,895 metres, yet it is accessible to anyone with a moderate level of fitness.

Arjo Ghosh, managing director at Spannerworks said: "This climb is for the children of Amani and I have every faith we will complete the challenge and help make a real difference to the less fortunate children of Tanzania."

The children's home takes in and looks after homeless orphans and street-children, providing a lifeline for Tanzania's most vulnerable children. Just £80 sends one Amani child to school for an entire year.
