I read with interest and sorrow that one of the Queen's pigeons is missing (The Argus, August 27).

The general manager of the Queen's pigeons, Peter Bryant, is reported as having said: "There are a variety of reasons why it might not have returned.

It might have got disorientated or distracted and be in someone else's loft."

I will write to him with the good news that, should the royal pigeon not return to Sandringham, we would be honoured to give him one of our Brighton-bred feral pigeons.
