In response to Tony Austin's letter (August 29) complaining about the band rehearsing at Stanmer Park, Brighton, we enjoy being part of Southern Aurora Drum and Bugle Corps.
We march in competitions against bands from all over the country. Our finals are
in a couple of weeks and we hope to gain a medal (hopefully gold this year), so we need to practise.
Being part of a marching band is hard work but is also very good as we're out in the fresh air (not in front of a TV), being part of a team and getting some exercise.
The park is big enough so there are other places to go and have picnics.
The band going over the same music must be a bit annoying - it sometimes is for us - but we need to get it right.
Every week we have people watching us. Last week an old man got his chair and sat in the sunshine watching us for a couple of hours, so not everybody thinks we are annoying.
