My husband and I take great exception to your unkind and irresponsible headline "Gulls are evil" (Letters, September 2).
It is not the seagulls which are evil. Evil are those who suggest they should be culled/killed.
If anyone is to blame for the large numbers of gulls in our towns, it is the councils and human beings generally.
Rubbish is not cleared regularly enough and some people leave their rubbish overflowing or piled outside the bins instead of taking it home with them.
Whatever happened to "Keep Britain Tidy"?
Thankfully, and to our delight, the High Salvington gulls have returned. We shall continue to enjoy their presence and monitor their lovely ways.
