Loan signing Andy Lindegaard believes Crawley need to start playing ugly to get results.

Lindegaard signed for a month from League One side Yeovil last week and made his debut in Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Accrington Stanley.

It was a result which left Reds second from bottom with just one win from their first eight games.

The 25-year-old knows all about the Conference having won the title with Yeovil two years ago.

He said: "This is not the time to play nice football, this is the time to knuckle down and scrap out results.

"We played some good stuff against Accrington and scored two great goals but we didn't get any points because of individual errors.

"This is a very difficult league, especially when you are down the bottom, and there is no such thing as being too good to go down.

"People may have talked about the play-offs before the season and say we are in a false position but we can't think about that now because we are down there.

"We just have to concentrate on doing everything we can to get out of it and then we can start thinking about playing good football."

Lindegaard was brought in by manager Francis Vines because midfielders Danny Brown, Neil Jenkins, Lee Elam and Rob Kember are injured.

He impressed against Accrington and is expected to keep his place on the right side of midfield at Forest Green Rovers tonight.

The Taunton-born winger does not have good memories of playing against the West Country club and has warned his new team-mates they are in for a tough encounter.

He said: "We used to play against them every Boxing Day and we would normally struggle. They are always up for it and I'm sure it will be no different this time.

"They make it very difficult for you and we are going to have to work hard to get something out of them.

"From what I saw on Saturday, we have plenty of good players but things are not going for us at the moment for whatever reason, so we need to work harder to get results."

Vines says Reds need to improve at the back to have any chance of taking the much-needed points tonight.

His team have scored four goals in their last two away games but have conceded seven.

Vines said: "We have to stop letting in sloppy goals. We scored two great goals against Accrington but let in three bad ones.

"It is no good working hard to create chances at one end if you then let in a stupid goal at the other. If you score twice away from home you should at least get a point. We have done that twice now and have got nothing, so we have got to be stronger in defence."

Defender James Donovan is available for selection for Reds after missing the last two games through suspension.
