A glamour model hopes to prove she has what it takes to be a star on TV's The X Factor.

Jamie-Lee Church, 19, has already made a name for herself by posing in a bikini in lads' magazines.

The model, from Portslade, appears in this week's editions of Nuts and Zoo and she was a contender in last year's FHM High Street Honeys competition.

Tonight, Jamie-Lee, a former pupil at St Mary's Hall School For Girls in Eastern Road, Brighton, makes her debut on talent show The X Factor, judged by Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

Jamie-Lee was one of 75,000 performers auditioning for the show and over the next few weeks, viewers will see her endure life as one of 40 finalists in the The X Factor Boot Camp.

She said: "I'm getting hassled by the Press already. I was coming out of a club in London last weekend when someone from OK! magazine said, 'That's the girl from The X Factor', which was really weird.

"Hopefully all the publicity will give me more of a chance to break through. I'm already talking to several record companies about a contract."

Jamie-Lee has been trying to break into showbusiness since 2002 when she appeared on Popstars: The Rivals.

She said: "Back then I had braces and blonde hair but I was only 16. Geri Halliwell said I looked too young. At the time I was upset but looking back I can agree with her."

Next she joined a R'n'B girl group called Eye Candy, which disbanded without releasing any records. Her next group, Risque, also disbanded.

Jamie-Lee said: "I was with Risque for a year. We did a few gigs in London and were about to shoot a video when one of the girls decided to leave.

"We were so close to releasing something, it was frustrating. That's when I decided to record stuff on my own."

The X Factor is on every Saturday on ITV1 at 7.05pm.
