Seafords Dave Pollard, who recently won a British Masters time trial championship, has chalked up another success by winning the Sussex and Surrey Veterans Association 25-mile event at Maresfield.
Pollard (In Gear) clocked 55min.52sec while team-mate Paul Woodman finished second in 57min.44sec. Steve Frame (Kontour Cycles) placed third in 58min.11sec.
Shaun Kennedy (Bec CC) finished fourth in 59min.21sec and he was the only Surrey rider to make the top six.
Christian Yates was fifth in 59min.27sec and this clinched the team award for In Gear.
Stuart Medhurst (Eastbourne Rovers) finished sixth in 1hr.0min.5sec.
Harry Featherstone (Eastbourne Rovers) clocked 1hr.6min.33sec to win the handicap award and the womens event was won by Libby Jones (Eastbourne Rovers) in 1hr.9min.8sec.
Several riders reported slight delays due to an accident on the course that was unconnected with the event.
Jim Cheek (Lewes Wanderers) gained another place on the podium when he finished second in the Lea Valley 30-mile time trial in Essex.
Cheek clocked a fast 1hr.7min.5sec but the event was won by J. White (JD Cycles) in a course record 1hr.5min.15sec.
The Cyclo-cross season starts on Sunday when VC Etoile promote a meeting at Lancing Manor Leisure Centre. There are youth races from noon and the main event is at 2pm
