An MP is joining a group of farmers campaigning for fairer milk prices.
Lewes MP Norman Baker will take part in the protest in the centre of the town on Wednesday to coincide with the appearance of Surrey farmer Peter Parkes at Lewes Magistrates Court.
Parkes was arrested during the protests held outside the Arla Milk processing plant at Sheffield Park, near Lewes, last month.
Arla is the largest dairy company in the UK, controlling about 35 per cent of the UK milk market and currently supplies both Asda and Tesco supermarkets. Figures uncovered by Mr Baker showed that dairy farmers receive 25 per cent less for their milk than they did ten years ago, while checkout prices have remained almost static.
