Its a dirty job but somebodys got to do it. A theatre is looking for stagehands who are prepared to shovel horse poo for its pantomime.

Cinderella, this years Christmas pantomine at Worthings Pavilion Theatre, features star appearances from two Shetland ponies.

But when nature calls the stage can get a little lively underfoot.

The ponies showed what they were made of during a photocall on Thursday when they left a few reminders on the floor.

The droppings were quickly cleared up using a brush and shovel and now the search is on for a stagehand to take on the essential job during Cinderellas run from December 10 to January 8.

The white Shetlands have been provided by Reading-based Luckens Pantomine Ponies, which has 80 trained animals on its books.

They will be stabled locally during the show, one of 14 pantos nationwide Luckens is supplying ponies for this year.

Ian Lucken, who has been running the company for 30 years, said it took around six months to train the Shetlands, who were rewarded with nuts and carrots.

They had to get used to sudden noises, lights and other distractions, such as bubbles and fake snow.

Ian said: You do get ponies who wont do it but generally they love it.

Cinderella is the tenth Pavilion panto produced by Paul Hammond, and stars Stacey Cadman, from TVs Cavegirl and Mile High, as the downtrodden serving wench who goes to the ball.

The cast also includes Paul Burling as Buttons, Connie Creighton as the fairy godmother and Kester and Danny Blush as the Ugliest Sisters.
