A blueprint of how Brighton and Hove will look in 20 years is being prepared.

The Local Development Framework will look at housing and employment needs and opportunities and how they can best be met over the next two decades.

It will also identify areas which need to be conserved and protected from development.

The document will form the backbone of Brighton and Hove City Council's planning process and be used when considering planning applications.

The council is asking residents what sort of city they want by 2026 to inform the drafting of the plan.

Gill Mitchell, chairwoman of the council's environment committee, said: The content of the Local Development Framework will affect everyone in the city.

"Only by gauging the views of residents can we ensure that new plans shape the kind of city that they want to live in and deliver sustainable development."

The council has produced a draft statement of community involvement which is available for comment. It sets out who should be involved, when consultation will take place and how the council will consult, provide feedback and consider planning applications.

It is available along with response forms at libraries and City Direct offices and can also be viewed at www.brightonhove.gov.uk Contact the Local Development Team, Planning Strategy & Projects, Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove BN3 3BQ or email ldf@brightonhove.gov.uk
