I am a wholetime (full-time) firefighter at Shoreham Fire Station and I also live in Shoreham.
The proposed cuts in cover at Shoreham will put the public at greater risk due to longer call-out times for retained firefighters at times when wholetime cover has been cut.
or more waiting for retained firefighters to attend would have resulted in far more serious damage to property and greater threat to life.
effectiveness of fire prevention and community fire safety work has been proven and seen to work can only lead to the public being placed at greater risk than necessary.
At present people do come first.
The proposed cuts in cover are for financial and political reasons and as such should be questioned, investigated and rejected by the people of Shoreham and Adur.
