Crawley manager Francis Vines is today poised to extend Andy Lindegaard's loan deal from League One side Yeovil.

The midfielder is due to play the last game of a four-week spell against Exeter City tomorrow.

Vines was in Somerset this week trying to keep the winger for at least another month.

Reds cannot sign a player permanently until the transfer window opens in January but are allowed four short-term loans and four long-term.

Vines said: "I am trying to sort it out but it is up to the player whether he wants to stay.

"He has done well and I want to keep him but it's not for me to say if we will be able to or not."

Lindegaard, who has made six appearances and scored one goal for Crawley, hinted last week that he wanted to stay.

The 25-year-old's first team chances at Yeovil were limited at the start of the season under former boss Gary Johnson, who left to join Bristol City three weeks ago.

The situation is unlikely to change now Johnson's assistant Steve Thompson has been given the manager's job permanently.

Lindegaard said: "The reason I came on loan in the first place was to get first team football, so I wouldn't want to go back and not be playing again."

Crawley will be without captain Ian Simpemba against the fourth-placed Grecians at the Broadfield Stadium.

Simpemba suffered a bruised knee in last week's 2-1 win at Scarborough and will be replaced by Chris Giles.

Giles, who scored a last minute winner against the Seadogs after coming off the bench, says Reds are unfazed by Exeter's lofty position.

He said: "Exeter are a good side and have done well this season but we don't think they are any better than us.

"We have picked up lately and have got a lot of confidence back. No team has outplayed us this season so, although we know it will be a tough game, all the players believe we can win it."

Vines added: "At this particular moment nothing is beyond us. We could have got a result in almost every game we have played so you don't know what you are going to get.

"We are capable of winning but that has been the case before and we haven't done it. We have not known how to win matches but hopefully now we are beginning to."

Vines has no doubts about the fitness of defender Neil Jenkins, who will replace the suspended Sacha Opinel at leftback.

Jenkins has not started a game since the second week of the season because of a calf injury.

Vines said: "Neil will be back in and will be fine. He has been training for two weeks now so I don't have any worries about him."

Striker Daryl Clare is aiming to end a four-game run without a goal. The former Conference golden boot winner netted three in his first four games after joining from Boston.

He said: "In the past I have often just stood on the six-yard line and knocked them in. Because we are down the bottom, everyone needs to work hard and I have been going out wider than I normally would to receive the ball.

"It is just as rewarding to contribute in other ways but maybe I need to start standing on the six-yard line again to get some goals."
