I read with interest the feature regarding Pierre-Yves Gerbeau and his proposal for a huge tower block to be built at Brighton Marina (The Argus, September 28).

I question this on two counts:

1, If 988 flats were built, this would require 3,000 extra parking spaces. How have I arrived at this figure? It's easy. Most residents would have two cars and they would need another space for visitors.

2, With the melting of the polar ice caps, the marina will all be under water within the next 30 years, so why bother?

The proposed new structure is actually quite pretty, I propose that it be built in middle of the Kemp Town Enclosures (Lewes Crescent), where there are five acres of little-used gardens.

The rest of the gardens could be turned into a car park which would just about hold 3,000 cars.

I think the block would look fabulous in this location and it wouldn't get swept away by rising tides.

Do others agree with and hopefully back my proposal?
