With regard to David Burgess's letter about transferring the King Alfred development to the Kemp Town Enclosures (October 14), while the proposed tower might be pretty, building it within the Enclosures, given their limited area, would mean building at least a three-storey car park necessary to house the 3,000 cars - and I have yet to see a pretty car park.

He obviously hasn't thought this idea through. The Enclosures are private, so it would be the same as building in his own back garden, which, I am sure, he wouldn't agree to.

As for them being "little used", these are gardens for more than 600 households, which is a lot of people. It is difficult to imagine they are little used with these residents having no other gardens to use.

However, the Black Rock site is a different matter. That would make a good location but seems to have little hope for development in the near future as the proposed ice rink seems to be a pipe dream.
