Councillor Ken Norman should practise what he preaches.
In his letter (November 23), he wrote Brighton and Hove's "councillors are elected to serve residents of the city and the planning committee makes its judgement after hearing the arguments for and against each application". But that is not the case.
After the hundreds of objections against the waste-transfer station at Hollingdean, how can the committee grant Onyx planning permission to build this monstrosity with what it says will be "a minimum" of 400
traffic movements a day next to an infants' school?
It threw out the plans for the proposed tower at Brighton Marina for being above the cliff height and because of parking problems it would have created.
Yet the fact it can allow Onyx to proceed with the dump at Hollingdean is outrageous.
Mr Norman also wrote there are better places for the rejected marina tower to be built.
There are also better places for a dump and they are away from residential areas and infant schools.
One mentioned by David Lepper MP is Hangleton Bottom. There must also be other sites.
