For parents in west Brighton not to know about Dorothy Stringer's historical links with east Brighton is one thing but for the head teacher, Trevor Allen, not to know about them is mind-boggling (The Argus, December 2).
Presumably, he had to be "reminded" that for years, Elm Grove Primary, St Luke's Junior, Queen's Park Primary and Carden Hill Primary were feeder schools for Dorothy Stringer.
For years, that is, until the inequitable home-to-school walking distance criteria came into play, which so disastrously affected this year's secondary school entry for east Brighton pupils.
What a remarkable lapse in Mr Allen's memory. Perhaps he has also forgotten that, on occasions, the feeder schools in east Brighton have been situated even further east.
The priority area for entry to Dorothy Stringer in September 2004, for example, went as far as Whitehawk and Brighton Marina.
