The Argus Christmas Bus will be travelling through the streets of Hove and Portslade this evening on the latest leg of its festive fund-raising journey.

Santa and his helpers will arrive at the Portslade Station bus stop in Portland Road at 6.30pm and then visit surrounding streets to raise money for The Argus Appeal and the Martlets Hospice in Hove.

The helpers include volunteers from local businesses and individuals and they will be calling on as many people as possible to show their support.

Sponsored by Legal and General, the bus is covered in fairy lights and will play music as it gathers money for needy people across Sussex.

Angela Robertshaw, the insurance and investment company's head of public relations, said: "Legal and General is delighted to continue in their support for the Annual Argus Appeal, especially this year's new and exciting Santa Special.

"We wish Santa every success and are sure Brighton and Hove residents will respond generously."

Anyone who would like to help Santa on the Christmas bus can call Peter at the Martlets on 01273 747455.
