The picture accompanying the Albion Analysis (The Argus, November 28) was of the empty seats in Withdean Stadium's old away-fans section.

Before anti-Albion critics start questioning the Albion's ability to fill 22,000 seats in a new stadium, like many other non-season ticket holders, I have forgotten how many times I have applied for home and away tickets and been turned down.

It will take a while for fans to get used to being able to see matches by turning up and paying at the turnstile at Falmer.

Nearly a generation of would-be fans have no experience of this concept.

In the interim, the club should start offering some complementary tickets to local schools and youth football teams while the Albion is still at Withdean.

It is time to start building relationships with the younger generation, as and when spare capacity allows.

If Charlton can do it with Sussex fans by the coach load, then the Albion needs to learn to fight back and play them at the same game.

At the very least, it would lessen the numbers of empty seats, which give fuel to the doubters.
