Described as "a belly-swelling, yummy pop treat" and "like Pavement taking a walk in the park" by the NME, local musos Winteria blend beautifully delicate harmonies with grungy guitars and clashing cymbals.

"We're massive Pavement fans so we're happy to be compared to them," says keyboardist James Harvey.

Despite the similarities to Pavement and the obvious influence of bands like them (Grandaddy, Sparklehorse, Beck), Winteria bring their own distinct alchemy to the stage.

"I guess British music is usually a bit more angular than whacked-out Americana," James says. "We're a bit edgier and poppier, we like good choruses but we like that electronic synthy backdrop weirdness too."

Winteria formed when three friends from a village school in Sussex met a couple of lads by chance near the shark tank of the Brighton Sea Life Centre. It was only right to call themselves after a recently discovered, deep-sea fish.

Since then, Winteria have supported Joy Zipper and The loveGods and headlined during Brighton Live. The best is yet to come.

Starts 8.30pm, tickets cost £4/£3. Call 01273 702333.
