A man questioned in connection with an assault on a photographer has been released on police bail.
David Freeman, the long-term partner of Lewes District Council leader Ann de Vecchi, is due to report back to police in the New Year after he was released without charge.
He was questioned in connection with an alleged incident which took place after photographer Eddie Mitchell, who has worked for The Argus for seven years, called at his home in Lewes with a reporter on Tuesday to ask to speak to Coun de Vecchi.
It is understood Coun de Vecchi was not at home at the time.
