Albion manager Mark McGhee has called time on Maheta Molango's career with the Seagulls.

McGhee admits the forward, struggling to make an impact on loan to League Two side Lincoln, is unlikely to play for the club again.

Albion visit Reading today, the fixture in which Molango, 22, made a dramatic entry into English football last season by scoring just 12 seconds into his debut.

Molango's career has nose-dived since then. The Swiss-born former Atletico Madrid reserve made only three more Championship starts for the Seagulls last term.

Lincoln signed him on a year-long loan following a prolific pre-season but he has been restricted to 14 appearances for the Imps, the last in the FA Cup exit at MK Dons in mid-November.

His only goal came in the 5-1 Carling Cup thrashing of Crewe in August. Lincoln were considering sending him back next month until discovering Albion would then be entitled to compensation.

Asked if Molango has played his last game for the Seagulls, McGhee revealed: "I think he probably has. Maheta was outstanding when he first joined us.

"People thought he could be the new Bobby Zamora. That was how he looked in pre-season but the lad hasn't coped mentally with the English game.

"He's gone on loan and not coped any better, so the likelihood is, unless there is a big change between now and the summer, that Maheta will leave."

Molango has a contract with Albion until June 2007. "That is something we will obviously have to deal with," McGhee said.
