Plans to extend a seaside shopping centre have been approved by councillors.
Developers gained consent to expand Langney Shopping Centre in Langney, Eastbourne, despite opposition from some people.
They fear the scheme would massively overdevelop the area, causing a rise in traffic, noise and congestion.
However, Eastbourne Borough Council's planning committee waved through the plans which include more retail units, a library, flats and a public transport interchange.
The scheme has won support from Liberal Democrat Mary Pooley who said it will prove a big improvement to the area.
