I would like to object in the strongest possible terms to the legal action taken by Lewes District Council (LDC) against the democratic decision made by the Deputy Prime Minister to allow the proposed Falmer Stadium site to go ahead.

As a resident of Barcombe, East Sussex, and a council taxpayer, I am appalled LDC has decided to proceed with this action, especially as many local people, such as myself, are Albion supporters and strongly in favour of building a much-needed stadium.

As the final legal bill could run into a six-figure sum, I consider LDC has acted in an irresponsible and arrogant manner without any consultation with the taxpayers, who are funding the appeal.

I hope council members retract this appeal before the burden of escalating legal costs is heaped upon taxpayers to pay for what will certainly be a futile gesture.
