At just 45 minutes long, with a modest set and a three-piece skeleton cast, The Circus Project's production was compact in every way.
The aerial trapeze sequences were well choreographed and made excellent use of the limited space available and the scene in which Settareh enjoyed a playful meeting with the fairy was particularly stunning as the two performers mirrored one another's mid-air actions.
Although aimed at children, whose engagement was testament to the production's quality, humorous touches such as the use of the Minnie Riperton hit song Lovin' You proved entertaining to all when, during a wooing scene, Prince Mehrdad tripped, grazed his elbow and screamed along to Riperton's famous high-pitched wail.
Unfortunately, the final scenes failed to live up to expectations. However, the show was imaginative and if it were to be given the Theatre Royal treatment, it would have been spectacular.
